About Fungal Infections

Numerous fungi are capable of superficially invading the skin, hair, nails, mouth, and groin. Superficial fungal infections are often caused by overgrowth of transient or resident flora. The three fungi genera that cause these infections are: dermatophytes, Candida spp., and Malassezia furfur.
